Rental Policies

Pickup and Drop Off

With advance notice, we do offer pickup and drop off at BWI Airport during regular business hours. Our Glen Burnie office services BWI Airport. All other locations, contact the location manager.

Liability, Insurance, and Optional Protection

Upon signing the Rental Agreement, Allstate provides primary liability protection. However, such protection is no more than the minimum limits required by the state of Maryland. If the rental is a “replacement rental,” the liability is the responsibility of the renter. Renters own personal insurance becomes primary in that case.

Physcial Damage Waiver (PDW)

At the time of rental, a renter may purchase PDW. If purchased, renter is protected against out-of-pocket payment for damages, as long as the terms and conditions of the Rental Agreement have not been violated. PDW is not insurance.

Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI)

For an additional charge, a renter may purchase SLI, which provides the renter and any additional authorized renter with up to $1,000,000.00 combined single limit automobile liability coverage. If accepted at the beginning of the rental, this optional protection provides excess automobile liability coverage against third party claims resulting from an auto accident in the rental vehicle during the term of the rental.

Driving Age

The minimum age for all drivers is 21 years old for most rentals. Certain specialty vehicles require the driver(s) to be a 25 years of age. Renter must possess a valid driver’s license, provide an acceptable credit card, and may be subject to an electronic driver’s license verification.

Young Driver Fee

Renter and authorized additional renter age 21-24: There is a fee of $15.00 per day, per underage driver. Certain specialty vehicles require driver(s) to be a minimum of 25 years of age.

Authorized Operators

  1. The renter
  2. Additional authorized renter

Additional Authorized Renter Fee

There is no charge for spouse (last name and address on the driver’s license must match that of renter). All others, the fee is $5.00 per day, per additional authorized renter. For our disabled renters: If your traveling companion shall serve as the driver during your rental, please inform us at the time of rental. There is no charge for an additional authorized renter for non-driving disabled renters.

Driver's License

An acceptable valid driver’s license MUST be presented at the time of rental. The driver’s license must be valid for the entire rental period. If the driver’s license is in a language other than English, an International Driver’s Permit is required. In all cases, a valid driver’s license issued in your home country must be presented, whether or not you present an International Driver’s Permit. You will not be allowed to rent an Allstate Auto Rentals vehicle with only an International Driver’s Permit. Renter and authorized additional renter may be subject to an electronic driver’s license verification with the issuing state’s Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). Allstate Auto Rentals will rely on the information provided from the electronic DMV verification to determine if the renter / authorized additional renter is qualified to rent / operate the vehicle.
**A third form of I.D. may be required for rental of certain vehicles. The third form can be one of the following:

  1. Acceptable credit card other than the one being used
  2. Government issued picture I.D. such as a valid U.S. Passport, state issued I.D. or military I.D. with picture.
  3. Most recent utility bill in the same name and address of the renter (address on the bill presented must match the address on the driver’s license).
